Among the latest news about mycotoxins published

LAMIC – the Laboratory
of Mycotoxicolgical Analysis of UFSM
– works with the cooperation of a multidisciplinary
team by an agreement between the Center for Science
and the Center for Rural Health Sciences.
The laboratoryn serves several companies and government
agencies , realizing the contol of grains, animal
tissues and dairy products to verify the presence
of toxins.
THE MISSION OF LAMIC:
Contributing to human and animal health, creating,
developing and applying test methods with credibility,
thereby ensuring the satisfaction of the company,
partners and employees.
WATER
ACTIVITY (aw)
In Brazil, the production of cereals and oilseeds
is one of the foundations of the economy. However,
30% of national agricultural production is lost in
the crop during the harvest, inadequate transportation
and storage. Excessive moisture in grain represents
one of the factors that results in the product loss,
due to its association with others, such as temperature
and the grain itself, providing ideal substrate for
microbial proliferation.

Proteins and Total Amino Acids Analysis
Since March 2004 with the alliance with ADISSEO,
which transferred its analytical technology
and its technical responsible to LAMIC, methodologies
for the determination of amino acids in raw
materials and animal feed are now available
to the clients.

Sampling
System
Several sample programs are used in the mycotoxins
analysis process. All of then have advantages and
disadvantages determined by the heterogeneous distribution
of mycotoxins-contaminated grain in the grain mass.
Thus, this variable leads to many interpretation difficulties
on the analysis.
